This evening we are presenting the Show and Tell that was cancelled before Christmas. A number of club members will be presenting their images on the theme Wabi Sabi.

RAW Nature: Images Uncovered. Have you ever wondered how an image was taken? If so, then this may be the talk for you. Aimed at photographic clubs where eager photographers want to learn in more detail how images are taken, the equipment and techniques used, tricks of the trade and any post-processing tips. This talk is a condensed version of Oliver's Wildlife Photography Workshop.

10th February - Bill Ward
Bill is a multi award winning actor and landscape photographer. The talk covers his background, and how he came to be an actor, before going on to discuss the photographs he takes (all 3 are very closely related) and why he takes them... first half lasts just on an hour or so, and the second half 40 mins or so in which he will cover "Creative Photography" (ie ICM and in-camera Multiple Exposures), which he’s been a leading practitioner of for a just under a decade. He’ll also show a lot of pictures!

17th February - Claire Carter
Dancing Lights - a decade of aurora hunting. This talk includes an audio visual presentation showing moving aurora using an animation technique. Claire will also go into details on how and when to successfully photo aurora.
24th February - Monochrome Competition
New this year - a competition for Mono DPIs only. Black and white, sepia, cyano - all fall into this category.
3rd March - Jules Tilesten
Join Jules on a photographic tour of Alaska; including Alaska’s history, fish and wildlife, and some of Jules’ special places. We will visit the Pribilof Islands, Alaska North Slope, Katmai and Denali National Parks, and Prince William Sound. We will be meeting in the WI Hall for this, with the presentation projected on the screen via Zoom from Alaska.

This is about finding a different voice in photography. Illustrated with a variety of subjects but as themed pieces and in panels.

31st March - Carol McNiven Young (Zoom)
Creative Studio Photography - ‘Carol has won a number of awards for creative portraiture and in this lecture she dispels much of the mystery and talks about the main techniques and methods of creative studio portraiture, giving lots of advice and tips on composites and backgrounds.’

7th April - Steve Haddon (Hall)
Over the course of the evening, through a combination of practical demonstrations as well as examples of his work, Steve will aim to show that you don’t need expensive equipment to take great portraits. He will show how you can use speedlights, LED lights, reflectors and even projectors to create great portraits. Along with simple lighting, Steve will show his day-to-day kit to show the differences, or lack of them. He will also discuss when to use studio lighting and what are the advantages of studio equipment over a cost-effective solution.
14th April - Easter Break
21 April - Critique Evening (Hall)
This is where you, the club members, become the appraisers. A number of prints from outside the club will be available, and working in groups, we assess what is good and where improvement could be made to these images, before presenting out thoughts back to the rest of the club.

We’re all looking to create powerful images that stand out from the crowd, and I'll describe my approach in trying to achieve this aim by taking a logical, project based approach. From initial concept, contact building, planning and shooting, right through to the processing techniques I use on some of my award-winning images, nothing will be held back.
