I have been in and out of photography most of my life but really increased my involvement when I retired. My major interest lies in Landscapes particularly coastal landscapes. However, I also enjoy many other genres including portraits, street photography, sports and creative photography.
I have also had considerable success in International Salons and Exhibitions and three images accepted into the UK Landscape Photographer of the Year in 2016.
I produce images that I enjoy and if others like them too, then for me, that is the icing on the cake!

I took up photography seriously 7 years ago, when I retired and I joined Backwell Camera Club at the same time. I quite simply enjoy making images and I am interested in a wide variety of subjects, mainly Landscape, Flora and Street Photography. Recently I have become attracted to looking for more detail in my environment and making more creative abstract images. Photography can become a satisfyingly mindful activity, which I find now plays an important part in my life.

My interest in photography grew from my passion for the outdoors. Since retirement I've had more time to join my interests together and joined the club in 2008.
Flora,Fauna and Landscape feature my main photographic subjects with a smattering of vintage vehicles and old photo restoration. I take part in club activities when I can, especially small group trips (North Wales, The Dales,Cornwall and the like).

I've been taking and developing black and white photos off and on since student days but really picked up all areas of photography after 2010. My main interest is photographing people - particularly studio, street and performance - though I try my hand at any and all genres.
I'm currently programme secretary of the club; for more info contact me on progsec@backwellcamera.club

I have been serious about photography since childhood. Being passionate about the natural world, my main photographic interest is nature and wildlife. Landscape and seascape also inspire me, as does architecture, especially churches. My aim is to produce images that convey something of the subjects essence and my emotional response to it. A friend, who is sadly incapacitated and housebound, once commented that my images transport her to a better place. That one comment has meant more to me than any technical critique, photographic award or competition success.

My interest in photography has been a constant for as long as I can remember. I like taking pictures on a wide range of subjects and I also enjoy making videos and AVs.
I have found Backwell Camera Club a great source for learning about photography and it has been a big part of my life for more than 20 years.
I have recently started using an iPhone 13 and am currently learning how to make best use of it photographically.

I hate the idea of being pigeonholed into a single genre of photography, instead, I like to dabble with different types of photography, in particular anything that involves being creative and thinking outside the box. Photoshop is my friend, and I enjoy manipulating, creating and perfecting images almost as much as the photography itself.

When I was about nine, Father Christmas left me a small Agfa camera in my stocking. Since then, I’ve been hooked on taking, and looking at, photographs. I’m not technically minded in any way, and I don’t develop my own prints, but I like to think I can ‘see a shot’. Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn’t. In the past I’ve been lucky enough to be given/loaned all kinds of cameras. But these days, I’ve settled for the one I always have with me: my phone camera. It’s amazing what you can get out of those things! I love black and whites, and I love experimenting. My top tip to myself: never stop learning.

I took up photography about 6ish years ago, when I won an entry SLR in a raffle. Having a friend who was massively into photography enabled me to embark on this journey. Having 1-1 lessons on all the basics, lead to this, now, obsession. Many £'s spent on upgrades and new lenses now leaves me with cupboards full of kit and a hobby that if allowed, could overtake everything else! I love wildlife photography (basically anything with a pulse) apart from people.
I have been know to take landscapes and will have a go at pretty much anything, but my heart is with the fluffy, feathery, scaly, furry members of this planet.

My father was a very keen amateur photographer. When I was 15 years old he bought me a Russian 35mm camera. I started shooting black and white film, developing and printing in my father’s small darkroom.
After about 2 years I moved on to taking colour slides and then colour film. Since 2001, when I bought my first digital camera, I have shot digital almost exclusively for over 20 years.
I have always enjoyed taking photographs, developing film or post processing digital less so.
