On Thursday evening 9th of January members were entertained by Mark Kemp (of Gloucester cc). The subject being Bird Photography from the aspect of the ‘How’ to get good pictures.
After a concise tour of the technical and methodical aspects of what makes a good birding camera / lens combination, we were introduced to the fascinating world of bird photography. We learnt the easiest ways to photograph birds (eg the ubiquitous bird on a stick) through to more complex and demanding aspects (such as birds in flight).
Mark walked us through details such as what made a good composition and how to achieve it. We learned which shutter speeds worked best for different types of bird photography, burst modes, panning and perhaps most importantly, the techniques used to place the bird in the camera lens with without having to remove the camera from eye level. Mark’s tips and tricks will prove very useful to our members; along with some of his impressive images to give us ideas. and inspiration.
A big thank you to Mark and we extend our best wishes from Backwell CC.
Congratulations to Mary Pears for gaining the most brownie points.
