Thank you so much to Graham Harries for an amazing evening exploring ‘Lost Wales’ – and for making the journey from Llanelli over the bridge to Backwell.
Graham took us on a poignant journey of all the buildings, homes, mansions, churches, chapels, slate mines, tunnels and monuments that we might ordinarily miss. Covered in moss, ivy, mud, dust and cobwebs, these charismatic but often sad places draw us in, with Graham offering background detail on how this decay and loss came to be. Along the way, we were also shown abandoned planes, tanks, cars and bikes. All truly fascinating, brought to life by Graham’s huge skill as a stills and video photographer, along with drone footage of some of the sites. ‘Lost Wales’ is very much Graham’s ‘thing’. But it quickly became ours, too, for the length of his presentation. We loved it.
